Abstract
Explaining the quality of resurrection is one of the most challenging topics among Muslim thinkers. By establishing philosophical principles, Mulla Sadra was able to prove the physical resurrection through rational arguments and reveal its hidden and mysterious aspects. Agha Ali Modarres Zanuzi, by adding new principles, has also reached an innovative perspective on the physical resurrection that has attracted the attention of later scholars such as Muhammad Hussein Isfahani, Rafi'i Qazvini, and Allama Tabataba'i. One of the important issues under the discussion of physical resurrection is the question of the nature and reality of the "grave". A group of verses of the Quran that have been cited by thinkers are the verses related to "exiting the grave". Based on the appearances of these verses, humans will one day come out of the grave and enter the afterlife. According to Mulla Sadra's reading, the grave means the "world of intermission" and what comes out of the graves are souls, not bodies. In contrast, Aqa Ali Modarres considers the grave to be the same earthen and material holes and believes that the elemental body exits it with a substantial movement and continues its journey towards the soul and the world of Barzakh. The present study, using an analytical-descriptive method and a comparative-critical approach, has examined and evaluated the readings of these verses by these two sages, citing the philosophical foundations. Ultimately, it has been concluded that Mulla Sadra's reading is more in harmony with the appearances of the verses of the Quran.
