Abstract

One of the topics related to causality is the criterion of the need of the effect for the cause. What is the criterion of the effect in the reality and how can the cause of things be determined is one of the issues that has been addressed in Islamic philosophy and verses and hadiths. In this study, which is written using a descriptive-analytical method, by dividing the criterion of effect into reality and argumentative, first the views of Muslim philosophers on the external criterion of cause and effect are expressed, and then the argumentative criteria of effect in Islamic philosophy are extracted. Next, by extracting the criteria of effect in the verses of Hadiths, these criteria are analyzed and compared with the criteria proposed in Islamic philosophy, and the conclusion is reached that there is agreement and compatibility between the views of philosophers and verses and Hadiths regarding the argumentative criteria of effect; however, there is a conflict between some external criteria between the views of philosophers and the appearance of some religious texts, and solutions to resolve this conflict are discussed.
