The topic of intelligence is extensive in Kitab al-All and there are discussions about the truth of intelligence and its ontological status and its epistemological position. Does it exist in the human soul as a rational faculty? What is its epistemological position? By addressing these questions, we can also examine the function of reason. In this article, using a descriptive-analytical method based on various chapters of the Book of Causes and its commentary by Thomas Aquinas, I have reached the following findings: The Book of Causs neglected to discuss the human rational soul, but Intelligence, in two respects, according to the nature and essence of intelligence itself, its duty is to think and know; And as the second order of existence and the first effect, it is a divine intelligence and its duty is ruling. The Objects of intelligence are higher and lower things, and Intelligence Understands the eternal Things, as well as On the Soul Understanding of Intelligence. Therefore, it defines two types of general and particular knowledge in the Book of Causes. In order to investigate this issue and answer the questions, we examine the topics of what intelligence is, its objects, and the limits of knowledge.
